Zamaretto Southern League

South & West Division

Cinderford Town 3

Paulton Rovers 3

CINDERFORD'S ability to match one of the best teams in the division and still be disappointed shows how far they have come under Paul Weeks.

After conceding first, the Foresters swept into a 3-1 lead with some outstanding football – only to be pegged back by the resilient visitors during the final seven minutes.

A curling Dale Evans free-kick brought a fine save from Kyle Phillips in the Rovers goal.

Phillips also had to be on his toes to keep out a Jordan Branch effort after good work from Lewis Sommers.

Rovers broke the deadlock on 34 minutes when Marshall reacted first to lash in a Ben Cleverley cross.

The lead lasted just two minutes. Danny Haines intercepted a pass and split the Rovers defence with a fine ball to Billing. The tall striker raced around Phillips to slot the equaliser.

Billing went close with a diving header before the break. Nick McCootie also had a 25-yarder well saved early in the second period.

It was Lewis Sommers who headed Town in front from a corner.

On 61 minutes the in-form Sommers scored again, touching in a Jamie Powell free-kick.

Rovers upped the pace but Town continued to make chances. Warren Archer's header was cleared off the line by Claridge.

Rovers pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute when Lane curled a shot past the unsighted Ben John.

Lane then rescued a point for his side by charging down a Branch clearance and rifling home.
