NEWENT Town lost 4-2 at home to Tuffley Rovers Reserves in the third round of the Junior County Cup.
With the frost coming out of the ground, the Newent pitch cut up quite badly.
Newent coped much better with the difficult surface and went 2-0 up through Daryl Bayliss and Paul Mason. Tuffley pulled one back just before half-time.
The pitch got even worse in the second-half and, with legs tiring, Tuffley equalised.
Bayliss had a late chance to win the game for his side, but shot wide.
Tuffley finished the stronger in extra-time, taking the lead in the first period.
The game was decided late in the tie when Kevin Goff just failed to make contact with a great ball across the box.
With Newent pushing men forward, Tuffley took advantage of the extra space to score a fourth goal in the final minute.
North Gloucestershire League leaders Minsterworth cruised into the next round of the same competition with a 6-1 win at Abbeymead Rovers.
Ruardean Hill Rangers had an eventful Junior County Cup tie at Gloucester Civil Service.
The game was due to be played at Ruardean Hill but the Foresters agreed to switch venue because their pitch was not playable.
It ended 2-2 after 90 minutes with Nick Jayne and David Frowen scoring for Hill.
Extra-time failed to produce a winner which meant the contest was supposed to go to penalties.
However, because the light was so bad, the referee called things off and ordered a replay, which is now likely to take place at Ruardean Hill.
Newnham United's home tie with King's Stanley Reserves was postponed, as was Mitcheldean's trip to Slimbridge.
In the third round of the County Intermediate Cup, Whitecroft won 1-0 at Smiths Athletic Reserves.
Staunton & Corse Reserves lost 2-1 at home to CHQ United in the County Minor Cup.
