Lydney v Kingsholm

LYDNEY were good value for this comfortable 53-run victory at The Recreation Ground after posting a useful score of 231-5 in 45 overs.

Jake Bonser went for 11 and Kear for 14 from 26 balls, but Charlie Bendall and James Legge added 145 in a match-winning third wicket stand.

Bendall's contribution was a steady 78 not out from 119 balls, while Legge made 65 from 93 balls.

Jon Bowdler added a quickfire 21 from just 13 deliveries to give the end of the innings some extra impetus.

Kingsholm skipper Jon Veits (45), Ian Eggleton (43) and James Markey (41) all played brightly but could not go on to make the big score required by their team.

Lydney captain Ed Jones again led from the front, taking 3-39 from his 11 overs. With pace bowler Pete Glynn (1-34 from 12 overs), James Legge (2-45) and Paul Morris (2-46) also producing good spells, Kingsholm accepted defeat and closed on 178-9.
