INTREPID Emily Ravenhill used the bracing water of Lydney Lido to prepare herself for a cross Channel swim.
The Cannop teacher spent months training in the Bathurst Pool before she plunged into the sea off Dover on Monday.
She said the open-air swimming pool was perfect preparation for the punishing challenge - swimming 21 miles from Kent to Cape Gris Nez near Calais.
Emily braved a lung infection to battle against the freezing waves for more than 15 hours during her gruelling quest.
