Gloucestershire Division
Painswick v Cinderford St John
PAINSWICK batsman Neville Talbot hammered the Cinderford bowling to all parts of the Broadham Fields ground to put his side firmly on top in this Gloucestershire Division encounter.
Talbot came in with his side rocking at 22-2 after Danny Field had clean bowled George Ayland for a first ball duck and had James Cook caught by Mark Roberts for 13.
He proceeded to score a magnificent 189 not out, hitting 13 sixes and 16 fours. He put on 112 in partnership with Jon Griffiths – the latter making 35 before being caught by Matt Whitney off the bowling of Julian Kibble.
Andy Beer increased Cinderford's woes with 64, helping to take the score from 134-3 to 271.
Talbot went mad at the end of innings, posting an unbeaten stand of 58 with former Gloucestershire player Ali Bressington. Such was Talbot's dominance, Bressington made just five not out.
Needing 330 to win, Cinderford finished well short on 202-9.
The Painswick bowling was too good to slam around the park, particularly James Harber who took 3-32 from 12 overs.
Richard Henry held Cinderford's innings together with a gutsy 80.
