WORK on a Forest supermarket are set to start this summer.
Lidl’s new store off Newerne Street in Lydney is set to create around 30 new roles for the area and will feature facilities including a 1,170m² sales area, a bakery, ample parking for both cars and bicycles, electrical vehicle charging points a customer toilet with baby changing facilities.
A spokesman for Lidl said: “The new store forms part of the retailers continued investment in the Forest of Dean, after an extension and refurbishment of the popular Lidl Cinderford store, and recent opening of a new Lidl store in Coleford.
“Construction of the new store is estimated to commence this summer.”
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Glen Stidever, commented: “We could not be more delighted to have received planning permission, and look forward to getting started on construction in due course.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their overwhelming support, and very much look forward to opening our doors and offering our fresh, quality, great value products in the not too distant future.”
