TESCO has pulled out of plans to build a major new store in Coleford town centre.
Construction work to build the new 10,000sq feet retail store got underway earlier this year and four units at Pyart Court were demolished.
The company also spent thousands of pounds on a public inquiry, following a protracted planning process which began in May 2011.
Despite insisting they were committed to Coleford, Tesco told The Forester that the developer behind the scheme had withdrawn from the project, stating: "The proposed store at Coleford in Gloucestershire was a developer-led scheme and the developer decided they no longer wanted to progress it."
