It's fantastic that a Lydney Town Councillor has finally spoken up about the complete lack of interest shown in the development of Lydney by Forest of Dean District Council in Coleford (front page last week).
Whilst pouring endless cash and effort into Cinderford regeneration, Forest of Dean District Council has fallen asleep on Lydney and left it to stagnate. Why anyone thinks that Cinderford can suddenly become a vibrant hub with slow, poor road access and no train station is a mystery.
But now the elections are upon us, suddenly Lydney is getting 'investment' and the councillor's are all keen to make development a priority. A Sainsbury's that could ruin the town centre and a 3 million loan (who will pay that back?) to make one roundabout! It's strange that now Lydney Town Council is making its own efforts to energise Lydney the Coleford Council residents are very suddenly keen on protecting their votes and six figure salaries!
