ORGANISERS of St Briavels Carnival say they are “overwhelmed” to the response of the first event since 2019.

Last Saturday’s (June 4) fun raised £3,292 was made which will go towards the upkeep and improvements on the village playing fields.

Spokeswoman Tessa Charley said: “We were overwhelmed with the amount of entries in the fancy dress competitions and the number of people from our community who came and supported us on the field.

“We couldn’t do it without the help of our committee members and other volunteers who helped us before and on the day, our generous sponsors and those who donated raffle prizes.

“We were entertained by the Bella Mammas, Wye Valley Zumba, Likely Twned and Beaujoladies who were all brilliant.

“After not having a carnival for three years we were hoping for a great profit and we weren’t disappointed.”
