THERE was traffic chaos on Thursday morning as Storm Diana hit the Wye Valley.

The old Severn Bridge was closed as gales swept across the estuary, leaving cars, buses and lorries forced to drive to Magor and use the roundabout there to join the M4 and use the Second Severn Crossing.

However, queues built up at rush hour with traffic heading towards Magor from the west combining with diverted traffic from the Chepstow end and causing huge tailbacks.

Storm Diana is set to pass through the region later on Thursday.
