IT HAS been named as one of the country's best bookshops and voted one of the top 100 most visionary businesses in the country. But now, the Forest Bookshop and its publishing business is up for sale. The bookshop was launched in Coleford' s Market Street in 1973 by Doug McLean, but after being flooded out at the end of the decade, the shop moved lock, stock and packing cases to its current location in St John's Street, a building which Doug had been using as a toy shop. Doug, who lives in a book-filled house in Newnham with wife Lyn, explained that at the age of 73 he no longer has the energy to be the businessman behind the shop.
