Cinderford Town 3
Abingdon Utd 2
CINDERFORD got their season back on track with a hard fought win at The Causeway.
Two goals from Jon Mills put Abingdon in poll position, but subs Lewis Sommers and Sam O'Sullivan inspired a brave comeback that saw Town score three times in the final 15 minutes.
It all culminated in a last minute penalty from Dale Evans.
Cinderford started the game strongly and created several good chances.
Nick McCootie headed a smart Andy Lewis cross straight into the arms of the visiting keeper, while Dale Evans had a shot turned around the post.
Mills put Abingdon in front on 28 minutes, running onto a Tom Melledew pass and beating Alex Harris with a first time shot.
Abingdon doubled their lead in the 55th minute – Mills again running onto a through-ball, this time for Gardner, to slot with ease.
Abingdon hit the post with another effort as they upped the pace.
The game turned with the introduction of 6ft 7in striker Sommers on 65 minutes.
Cinderford threatened the Abingdon goal aerially and won a penalty for a push at a corner. Dale Evans converted.
Three minutes later Nick McCootie scored a superb solo effort, controlling the ball skilfully and beating two defenders before finding the net with a stunning volley.
Cinderford's winner came in stoppage time from another corner.
A Dale Evans header was creeping in under the bar until Carnell stopped it with his hand.
Evans scored from the spot for the second time to cap a great second-half display.
Abingdon didn't lie down and thought they had equalised when Mills raced onto a Davis flick-on and rounded the goalie to score.
The assistant's flag saved Town, ruling Mills offside.
