A 58-year-old Ruardean man who drove while banned and without insurance – and failed to stop for a police officer – has been placed on a nine months community order by Cheltenham Magistrates.

Michael Barnett of St John’s Road, Ruardean, pleaded guilty to driving a Citroen Saxo on his home street on September 4 2021 when he was disqualified and had no third party insurance in force.

He also admitted failing to stop for a constable in uniform on the same date.

The magistrates imposed a community order with a six months drug rehabilitation requirement and fined him £80 plus £40 costs and a £34 surcharge. He was banned from driving for a further 12 months.
