THIRTEEN-YEAR- OLD Megan Jephcote (pictured) has been invited to carry the Olympic torch in 2012.

Megan, from Coleford, has been invited by Samsung to be one of their official torchbearers to carry the flame next summer.

She doesn't know when and where she will carry the torch, but the Samsung Olympic team has written to Megan, saying: "We have been truly amazed by your story and how you go the extra mile for your community."

Around 8,000 torchbearers will carry the flame across Britain to London for July 27.

The Olympic torch will stop in Gloucestershire.

Megan is one of the top rowers in the country in her age-group.

She won the UK national indoor title and in February travelled to Helsinki to win the Finland National Championship. She is a GB indoor rowing ambassador.

Megan trains four times a week on the Wye near her school in Monmouth, having previously rowed for Ross-on-Wye.
