A MAJOR row has erupted amid claims that senior councillors have been touting around parts of the Five Acres campus as part of an attempt to get the local community involved in running it.

Coleford councillor Paul McMahon has attacked the council after Berry Hill Rugby Club were asked if they would be interested in relocating and taking on some of the pitches.

The club have told the Forest of Dean District Council they are happy in their current home but still want to continue using the facilities as secondary pitches.

But Coun McMahon is angry about the behind-the-scenes discussions and says it's time for the council to come clean about its plans for all the swimming pools and leisure centres in the district.
