PEOPLE planning to travel between Lydney and Cardiff by rail this weekend are being advised to make other arrangements due to industrial action.

Transport for Wales (TfW) is warning that its services are likely to be “extremely busy” on Saturday (August 13), with no Great Western Railway (GWR) services running in Wales and no CrossCountry services running at all.

The disruption to services comes as members of the train driver’s union ASLEF are taking part in industrial action.

TfW says that passengers planning to travel between Lydney and Cardiff are advised not to travel “unless their journey is essential”.

Services between Carmarthen and Newport are also expected to be “very busy” due to the action, with the same advice in place from TfW.

Extra staff will be deployed by the company at stations to provide additional customer services.

Travel to a number of events taking place on Saturday could be impacted, with customers “strongly advised” to check the latest travel information on the TfW website, tfw.wales, mobile app or social media channels before making their journey.
