A SIMPLE earthing problem in one stretch of cabling was all that caused the floodlights to fail during Cinderford Town's midweek match at Bideford last Tuesday night.

Electricians worked on the problem on Friday and although it took time to locate the problem, it was a simple job to fix.

The Foresters must now replay the match this Thursday, April 14. They must also reimburse the officials and Bideford with their expenses – a bill that is likely to run into hundreds of pounds.

Town have had to make other minor improvements to their ground in order to keep Southern League officials happy.

To keep fans off the bank behind the goal at the school end of the pitch, new signs have been put up.

More hardstanding has been laid around the pitch and the technical areas around the dugouts have been reduced, because the league said they were too big.

l SOUTHERN League outfit Almondsbury Town – who were previously managed by Cinderford boss Paul Weeks – look set to fold at the end of the season because they do not have a ground.

The club shared with Clevedon this season but felt it was no longer viable.

Their ground problems started when they were informed by their landlords, the Gloucestershire FA, that they were being evicted from their clubhouse.

It means there is likely to be no relegation from the South & West Division.
