PRINCESS Anne swooped in to the International Birds of Prey Centre in Newent for a flying visit this week.

The Princess was entertained by a range of rare and exotic birds during flying displays at the centre which is under the care of her friend and owner of the centre Jemima Parry-Jones.

Among them were a Burrowing Owl, a Harris Hawk and an Egyptian Vulture called Pinotage – otherwise known as Pharaoh's Chicken for its habit of walking along the ground like the farmyard animal.
