Launton Sports 1

Lydney Town 6

AFTER hitting league leaders Headington for six in their last game, in-form Lydney put another half dozen past bottom club Launton Sports.

With Steve Jones only fit enough to make the bench, Mike Reddan donned the keeper's jersey and had a quiet afternoon.

Making the most of a perfect playing surface, Town went ahead on seven minutes.

Danny Clarke found himself in acres of space and chipped the keeper from just outside the area.

Launton equalised straight from the restart. The Lydney defence simply stood and watched as Moore found the net.

Lydney lost striker Matt Timmins to injury just before half-time. He was replaced by Niall Halford.

The loss of Timmins was softened by Lydney's second goal from Ross Lindsay, who tapped in a Danny Clarke cross at the back post.

Lydney didn't start the second-half particularly well but still managed to increase their lead on 55 minutes.

The home defence failed to clear and Adam Price slid in to convert an easy chance.

Lindsay was replaced by Jarred Liddington 15 minutes into the half and the speedy striker immediately set up Jonny Kear for Lydney's fourth. Liddington beat his man out wide and crossed to Kear, who powered home a header from fully 20 yards.

Price then scored a contender for goal of the season.

Surrounded by defenders in a confined space, the talented forward flicked the ball up and volleyed it past the bemused Launton keeper in one terrific movement.

With Town now in total control, Dan Gittings came off the bench to shore up the midfield. Halford bagged a welcome goal 10 minutes from time when he raced through the Launton defence, rounded the keeper and coolly slotted.
