A big turn-out in the Forest of Dean for the General Election has got the counting teams at the declaration busy.

The Conservatives at the Oaklands Snooker Club in Cinderford, where the count is being held, were buoyant after the exit polls signalled that their party had a thumping majority nationally.

And it is expected that Conservative Mark Harper, who had a majority of 9,502 at the 2017 General Election, is expected to increase his lead over the other candidates when the result is made.

Labour’s Di Martin is the only one of the four candidates to have turned up at the count by mid-night with Mr Harper due around 1am-2am.
