TWO district councillors are heading for a showdown in Coleford amid a row over how a report on the Five Acres site was delivered last month.

Cllr Bernie O’Neill, the Labour member for Littledean and Ruspidge, has laid a motion of no confidence in the Strategic Overview and Scrutiny committee chairman Patrick Molyneux, Conservative and represents the Hewelsfield and Woolaston ward.

The committee meets at Coleford council offices tomorrow evening (Thursday).

The row has festered since the last strategic overview and scrutiny committee meeting when Cllr O’Neill, chairman of the working group looking at the sale of Five Acres, failed to present a written report before the meeting on Thursday, October 4.

Cllr O’Neill said there had not been enough time from the working group debate – three days earlier – to write something to present.

Instead, he gave a verbal report which concluded that the Five Acres project was ‘exciting’.

However, Cllr Molyneux took exception to being told rather than reading of the working group’s activities three days before the main committee.
