A series of upcoming road closures across the Forest of Dean will affect drivers throughout September, as Gloucestershire County Council issues multiple temporary traffic orders for maintenance and utility works.

The longest closure will take place on C354 Lower Road in Ruspidge and Soudley, where bridge maintenance is scheduled to run from 8am on Monday, September 7 until 4pm on Friday, October 30.

The affected stretch covers around 70 metres between The Roman Road and the junction with Lower Road and Top Road. The council has warned that the order may remain in force for up to eighteen months if delays occur. Emergency and pedestrian access arrangements were not specified in the notice.

In Westbury-on-Severn, C47 Ley Lane will shut overnight for level crossing maintenance. The closure runs from 11pm on Wednesday, September 9 until 5am on Thursday, September 10, covering a 700‑metre section between Green Farm and Leycourt Farm. Emergency access will be maintained, but pedestrian access will not be permitted for safety reasons. Residents seeking further details can contact Gloucestershire Highways.

Cinderford will see disruption on 403065 Road from Foxes Bridge to Valley Road, where BT Openreach is carrying out works.

The road will be closed between 9am and 5pm on Thursday, September 10, affecting around 100 metres including the stretch to No.12 Upper Bilson Road. Pedestrian and emergency access will remain available.

Two further BT Openreach closures are planned for Wednesday, September 23. In Awre parish, a 50‑metre section of the 405102 road from Woodville to Little Loiterpin will shut between 11.30am and 5pm, while in Westbury-on-Severn, a 200‑metre stretch of C46 Upper Rodley Road will close between 9am and 5pm. Both closures will maintain pedestrian and emergency access.

A separate BT Openreach closure will affect Tidenham parish on Monday, September 21, with a 70‑metre section of the B4228—from Miss Graces Lane to Boughcliff House—closing between 8am and 5pm. Pedestrian access will be maintained, but emergency access will not be possible due to safety constraints.

Finally, Severn Trent Water will close part of 405034 The Moorwood in Lydbrook from 8am on Thursday, September 24 until 6pm on Friday, September 25, covering 155 metres between Moorwood Cottage and Morang. Emergency and pedestrian access will be maintained.
