THE district council faces legal costs of almost £90,000 relating to planning.

A judge has ordered the Forest of Dean District Council to pay £31,000 to the Secretary of State and Gladman Developments after the planning inspector’s decision to grant permission for up to 95 houses at Gloucester Road, Tutshill.

Costs relating to the planning inquiry into plans to build 200 houses in Lower Lane, Berry Hill totalled £22,623.83 and Tom Langton and Derek Foster’s successful judicial review have resulted in a £13,375 cost for the council.

And the bill for the legal wrangle surrounding proposals to build a wind turbine at Severndale Farm is currently at £13,150 plus VAT.

Costs to date relating to a food safety prosecution total £4,550.
