FOREST of Dean councillors will decide tomorrow (October 20) whether budget supermarket Aldi gets the go-ahead to build a store in Coleford.

Planners reached a deadlock last month on whether or not to allow plans the German store to build the 19,418 sq ft shop on land off Tufthorn Avenue.

Now it falls upon all district councillors to decide the fate of the application at a public meeting at the Forest of Dean District Council offices at 7.30pm on October 20.

The plans have the full backing of Coleford Town Council and hundreds of residents who say it would retain shoppers in the area and improve customer choice.

However, district council planning officers recommend rejecting the plans due to its location being outside the town centre.
