AS the holder of a disabled driver's badge, charges for car parking will not affect me. However, even so, I should like to add my voice to the protests. This is a thoroughly retrograde step because of the effect it will have on the shops and also attracting tourists to the area. It seems typical of all councils that they do what they think and not what the ratepayers want. Abolishing weekly waste collections is just another similar act. In fairness, all the council employees who enjoy free large car parks should pay at the same rate. Perhaps the bosses would listen if they have rebellious staff to contend with.

The only positive side I can see is, presuming there will be parking wardens, they will stop the selfish people who park in disabled bays they are not entitled to. If one remonstrates, as I did today, you either get a mouthful of abuse or the most fatuous excuses. If they weren't so insulting to one's intelligence they would be funny.
