PARKEND Carnival enjoyed a beautiful sunny Bank Holiday Monday for the second year running although the number of floats was down on recent events.
The precession was headed by the Bream Silver Band followed by the Carnival Queen’s float - carrying Danai-Rae Matthews and her attendants.
Other themed floats included the Forest Musical Society celebrating their 25th anniversary with a selection of musicals and the Forest Vintage Vehicles and Machinery Club with a Wild West display.
Other features included the Harmony Twirlstars baton twirl and pompom dance troupe, Thomas the Tank engine.
The procession wound through the village from Cannop Road to the recreation field for an afternoon of entertainment featuring performers, musicians, attractions and many charity stalls.
The field also hosted a flower and vegetable show in a marquee.
Parkend Carnival is one of the longest running carnivals in the Forest of Dean and has been running every Bank Holiday Monday in August since 1968. Next year will of course be its 50th anniversary.
