CINDERFORD has been accused of having the 'worst Christmas lights in Britain' by a national newspaper.
The Daily Mail ran an online story about how Cinderford' s lights are likely to suffer because of health and safety regulations – with the headline 'Are these the worst Christmas lights in Britain'?
Cinderford Town Council was told it must pay £60 to 'stress test' each column that would hold the lights, amounting to a total bill of more than £2,000 – which the council does not have allocated in its budget.
Council chair Graham Morgan said: "It's not about the weight of the features, but worries over wind pressure.
