AN 89-year-old woman suffered a head injury in a hit-and-run accident in Broadwell.

As the pensioner was about to cross South Road just before 6pm on Tuesday, a car collided with her walking stick, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground. The driver of the car then failed to stop at the scene.

The injured woman was taken to the Dilke Memorial Hospital for treatment to a cut to the head that is not believed to be serious.

Police are keen to speak to the driver of the car, or anyone else who witnessed the incident but hasn't spoken to officers.

Anyone who can help should call the non-emergency number 101 and quote incident 433 of January 3.
