CINDERFORD boxing nut Les Brooking might be too old to fight, but he's still dreaming of an Olympic call-up.
Les, who is head coach of the Forest Oaks Boxing Club in Cinderford, has been invited to take charge of the full England team for a match against Ireland in Aldershot this weekend.
The England team will feature the best male and female amateur fighters in the land including many fresh back from the Commonwealth Games.
Seven of the boxers on show will be competing in the GB Championships later this season and most are targeting the 2012 Olympics in London.
Les said: "It's a great opportunity for me.
"I would love to be asked to coach the team at the Olympics, but I think 2016 in South Africa is much more realistic for me. I've already done a lot of work with the young lads of 15 and 16 who have already been earmarked for 2016."
Originally from Torquay, Les has lived in the Forest for around 15 years.
Before becoming a qualified coach he was an amateur fighter himself, having more than 70 bouts.
Although now fully established as an England fight coach, Les remains committed to developing boxers at Forest Oaks.
He said: "We are already getting ready for our next show at Oaklands in November.
"Paddy Hinds and Connie Gardiner will be making their debuts that night, alongside regulars such as Tom Smyth, Nathan Madge, Will Burden and Mike Freeman.
"Nathan and Mike will be our main ABA hopefuls this season."
