POLICE have warned they will be out on the roads of the Forest of Dean in force in the lead-up to Christmas as the annual drinking and drug-driving campaign kicks in.

Gloucestershire Constabulary began stopping drivers last Sunday and say this year’s campaign will be the most powerful they have taken part in.

They have added a new mobile phone number of 07860 009 095 to their campaign so that anyone who knows of regular drink or drug drivers or sees someone heading to a vehicle when unfit can inform the police descreetly.

A new set of measures, including a zero tolerance poster campaign with the slogan ‘None For The Road’, are being used to stop over the limit drivers getting behind the wheel in the first place and to catch those who do not heed the warnings.
