Sedgley Park 11

CINDERFORD'S incredible revival continued with this emphatic win over their visitors from Bury.

"We set ourselves a target of 10 points from our last two games and it's worked out perfectly," said delighted director of rugby Andy Deacon.

"This win was thoroughly deserved and sums up our last three months. In patches we played really well, but we took our foot off the gas in the final quarter."

Steven Nutt missed an early penalty chance for Park before Cinderford opened the scoring.

The ball was moved quickly to winger Nevaro Codlin, who cut back inside and beat three defenders to grab his 12th try of the campaign. Danny Trigg converted.

Sedgley's Matt Riley and Trigg exchanged penalties before home number eight George Evans forced his way over for a try following a long spell of pressure on the Park line. Trigg added the conversion.

A second penalty from Riley cut the deficit to 17-6 at the interval as the hosts finished the half with 14 men on the field. Rob Winchle was yellow carded for a technical offence.

Cinderford stormed out of the blocks for the second half and wrapped things up with three tries in quick succession.

Centre Dewi Scourfield crashed over from close range, then Adam Nicholls finished off a terrific team move that started deep in Cinderford's half.

Minutes later, prop Steve Price crossed for Cinderford's fifth try after some more great approach play from both forwards and backs. Trigg converted two of the three tries.

Sedgley Park managed an injury-time consolation try through scrum-half Simon Parrott as the match petered out. Cinderford's Rikki Stout was yellow carded on 77 minutes.

This week, the Foresters go to Redruth knowing that another win will go a long way to guaranteeing their league survival.

Deacon added: "Since Christmas we've come on this run and we're in a position where the pressure is starting to come off us.

"A win at Redruth will put us on a path to where we want to be, in mid-table. We'll go there and do our best."
