POLICE are asking people in Newent to “remain vigilant” and keep their vehicles locked following reports of attempted thefts from cars over the summer.

An appeal to report “suspicious activity” was made by police at the start of September after “a spate” of attempted thefts from cars in the town in August.

A post on X from Forest Police said officers would like to hear from anyone affected “even if nothing was taken”, and have offered crime prevention advice for motorists at www.gloucestershire.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention.
