A 28-year-old Newent man has been placed on home curfew from 8pm to 6am each night after admitting charges of assault and failing to provide a breath sample to police.

Jake Stephens of Southend Lane, Newent, has pleaded guilty to assaulting Sam Connors by beating on April  10 last year in Newent and failing to provide a breath sample at Gloucester on Christmas Day last year.

Cheltenham Magistrates have bailed him to September 6 for a case management hearing.

He has made an application to vacate his guilty plea on the breath test charge.

Bail conditions include no contact with Mr Connors, residence at his home address, a nightly curfew from 8pm until 6am and electronic monitoring.
