A 39-year-old Newent man has been fined for failing to tell police who was at the wheel of a speeding car.

Robert Jones of Poinsettia Way has been fined £660 and has had six penalty points put on his driving licence for failing to notify police who was driving a car at the time of an alleged motoring offence.

He was also ordered to pay £156 in costs and surcharges.

Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court heard that he failed to tell police who was driving a Honda at The Gorse, Coleford, on April 5 when it was allegedly exceeding 30mph.
