NEW chevron signs have been installed at the site of fatal accident on the A4136 near Brierley.
In September 2014 Mikkie Mahon, an experienced motorcyclist from Swindon, lost his life after being involved in collision with a vehicle coming in the opposite direction near to the entrance to Herbert Lodge – a site which has seen a roadside shrine to the biker’s memory become established.
But now, to enhance road safety, three new giant signs have been installed.
Brian Watkins, local highways manager, said: “As part of the A4136 treatment scheme between Edge End to Nailbridge Route, we have installed chevron signs to help people understand the layout of the road.
“This latest piece of works goes in hand with new signs at Mireystock Crossroads and red surfacing along the centre of the road to highlight the need to take care.
“We have worked with the road safety team and are committed to making all our roads as safe as possible.”
