A CINDERFORD based family business that has been trading for 79 years has been sold - a move that safeguards the 136 jobs of people employed at Ensors.

Insolvency specialists KPMG were brought in to handle the sale of the company that supplies top venues like Wimbledon.

The organisation's restructuring partners Will Wright and Mark Orton were appointed joint administrators of the abattoir and food processing business located in Forest Vale Industrial Estate on Friday, September 6.

Following their appointment, the administrators sold Ensors Gloucestershire Ltd and its assets, primarily the three acre freehold site with 80,000 sq ft factory and plant and machinery in Cinderford, to Foyle Food Group Limited, which is based in County Londonderry in Northern Ireland – a company that also owns the Melton Mowbray brand in Leicestershire.

The sale of the local company has secured the jobs of all 136 employees who will transfer over to Foyle Food Group.
