Cinderford Town 3

Stourport Swifts 2

NEW loan signing Darren Edwards scored two goals on debut to give Cinderford an important league win at The Causeway on Tuesday night.

Town took time to get going and it was Swifts who broke the deadlock. Bridges put them in front with a 28th minute strike.

Two minutes before half-time a Lewis Sommers cross from the left deceived the visiting keeper who helped the ball over the line.

The introduction of Sam O'Sullivan brought new life to the Foresters in the second-half.

The half was only two minutes old when Edwards, on loan from Bath City, collected a pass and calmly slotted Town's second goal.

The Foresters survived a scare when Stourport had a goal disallowed for offside.

Stourport boss Richard Colwell was sent off following an altercation with a refereeing assistant. Town extended their lead in the 67th minute when Edwards converted a near post cross.

O'Sullivan left the field with an ankle injury and Stourport kept pushing to the end. Griffin netted in the 84th minute to keep the match alive, but Town survived eight minutes of stoppage time to claim victory. They needed keeper Ben John, however, to pull off a terrific stop at the death.
