BACK in the 1930s when I was a youngster I remember watching my father CF Fox and his pals leave our home in Milkwall and walk up to Coleford Bowling Club for the game of bowls they loved.

It was a longish walk from Milkwall – there were no cars then.

If anyone had told them they wanted to close the club down they would have frog marched them to Coleford Railway Station and put them on a train back to where they came from and told them not to return to the lovely Forest of Dean.

I am a Forester born and bred and I'm 83 years old. I don't want to see the bowling club closed any more than my father would have.

Please help us to save it.
