ANGRY mum Natasha Saunders has asked Ofsted to investigate her teenage daughter's claim that a Lydney teacher threw a book in her direction and "pushed" her out of the classroom.
Whitecross School teacher Jill Wild is believed to have admitted throwing a book but denied any physical contact with pupil Alannah Stephens.
Mum Natasha said she decided to go to Ofsted because she was unhappy with the school's response.
She has told the school she does not want GCSE student Alannah in the same classroom as the teacher.
She claimed: "They say they can't tell us the outcome because of data protection, but the teacher is still in school and my daughter is doing past papers in another classroom."
Natasha said her 15-year-old daughter had been told to leave the classroom. The alleged incident is claimed to have occurred when she returned to give in her work at the end of the lesson before half-term. The school interviewed a number of pupils in the class and asked them to replicate what happened as part of an investigation.
Ofsted has referred Natasha's concerns to the National Complaints Team in Nottingham and told her she should expect a reply within a month as to whether they will investigate the matter or not.
David Gaston, headteacher of Whitecross School, said: "I appreciate this has been a difficult time for the pupil and her family and we have been as open and honest as possible with them throughout.
"This matter has now been fully investigated by the school in co-operation with the local authority and the teacher concerned has been dealt with appropriately. We would never condone inappropriate behaviour by any member of staff.
"Whitecross School takes incidents like this very seriously and I'd like to reassure people that we would always carry out a thorough investigation where matters like this arise."
A spokesman for Mrs Wild's union, the NASUWT said they had no comment at this time.
