Mobile speed cameras were out in force following a series of accidents, with particular emphasis on Coleford Road, Bream; Fancy Road, Parkend; Perrygrove, Coleford; Picklenash, Newent; A4136, Brierley and A48, Woolaston.

An incredible 89 motorists were caught speeding along the A48 in Woolaston, from just seven police visits.

The mobile speed cameras also caught 58 motorists driving too fast on Ross Road, near Picklenash School in Newent.

Local driving instructor Mike Webb, who helped spearhead the Time and Place road safety campaign in the Dean, said: "I'm not surprised by the figures."
