Dings Crusaders 27

TWO tries from inspirational skipper Jim McMahon plus further touchdowns from wingers Josh Hannam and Tai Lakabuka earned Lydney their fifth away win out of six.

Full-back Tony Wicks converted all of the scores and also kicked two penalties.

Hannam's try followed a good counter-attack from Wicks, who fielded a kick and attacked from deep.

McMahon's opening touchdown came from a 5m scrum.

It was 14-14 at the break and bottom of the league Dings were firmly in the game with back-row Stean Williams outstanding at the breakdown.

Lydney regained the lead when McMahon made an enterprising break through some indifferent tackling and released Lakabuka.

Within a couple of minutes Dings were level.

Stean Williams turned over possession, Sam Cox made a break and county winger Sylvan Edwards went over.

Dings messed up a three-on-one overlap before having Ollie Hodge sin-binned for a dangerous tackle.

Lydney's winning try came from McMahon, who picked up from the base of a scrum just outside his own 22 and burst through tackles with the pace of a back to score under the posts. The supporting runners couldn't get near him.
