GFA Senior County Cup

Yate Town 1

Cinderford Town 3

CINDERFORD Town continued their fine form in the cups with this deserved win at Yate on Tuesday night.

The Foresters fielded a strong team, with Warren Archer, Brad Andrews and Nick McCootie all returning to the starting XI. There was also a place on the bench for young reserve team player Andrew Lewis, who has impressed in recent weeks.

Cinderford took the lead with a stunning Nick McCootie effort on 32 minutes. The former Bridgwater man outstripped Warren down the right, cut inside and drove home a left-footed shot.

Five minutes later, a Tom Billing free-kick on the edge of the box was deflected in.

McCootie settled things two minutes before the break – powering into the box to get rid of his marker, then finding the corner with ease.

In the second-half Ben John made a superb save to deny Chris Lewis from close range.

Robin Nichols pulled one back for Yate on 65 minutes, but Cinderford continued to press.

The lively McCootie went close to securing his hat-trick, but Yate keeper Ancin thwarted him with a fine diving save.
