THE wet conditions failed to dampen enthusiasm for the latest round of the Forest of Dean Area Team Championship.

The round was split between Elton Fishery and Lightmoor Pool, with two sections at each venue.

The top spot was filled by Andy Prosser (Iffers Red), who bagged 80lb of good-sized carp from Elton's prolific far bank using his favoured paste and pole method.

His son Sam (Iffers Red) also shone with a super win in section A.

The Wye Angling twosome of Steve Seaborn and Craig Brown both took runner-up berths.

At Lightmoor there was a tight finish with Keith Hull (Iffers Yellow) just failing to hold off the late surge of Wye Angling's Tony Summers.

Keith had a storming start, taking carp after carp on the method feeder from peg 15. However, Tony kept priming his margin swim on peg 35 until the big carp eventually turned up to give him first place with an impressive 78lbs. The venue fished well throughout and is testament to the hard work carried out by the Forest of Dean club's fishery management team.

The 20 anglers pegged at Lightmoor took more than 650lbs to the scales – the best match total ever recorded at this beautiful Forest location.

On the team front, Iffers Red came out ahead with 35 points.

Another solid performance from reigning champions Wye Angling means they now lead the overall table, but only by one point.

Early leaders Glory Boys had a bad day and dropped to third overall.
