A 42-year-old man has been handed a 10-week suspended jail term for contacting a Cinderford woman in breach of a restraining order.

Christopher Cunliffe of The Pastures, Hereford, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court to contacting the woman and entering an address in Cinderford, on  December 23 2022 when he was prohibited from doing so by a restraining order imposed on August 11 last year.

As well as the 10-week prison sentence, which was suspended for a year, the magistrates imposed a rehabilitation activity order requiring Cunliffe to participate in any activity required by his supervising officer up to a maximum of 20 days.

The court said his offence was a ‘deliberate breach’ of the restraning order and it was the second breach.

He was electronically tagged for six months with a requirement not to enter a named street in Cinderford. He was ordered to pay £239 costs and surcharge.
