A MAN is fighting for his life after a head on smash which closed the A48 this morning.
He is believed to have been cut out of a black Vectra car involved in the accident at Minsterworth.
An air ambulance was called but the man was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital by road.
There are no details about the driver of the second car, a Cinderford registered Astra, or reports of further injuries.
The A48 is closed in both directions between the A40 junction and the Oakle Street junction.
Parents have been allowed through to Minsterworth school.
A diversion is in place along the A4136 and A40 and police are warning drivers to expect delays.
The accident happened at around 6am and the road could be closed until as late as midday.
