A MAN was arrested on suspicion of “wounding with intent” following an attack on Cinderford High Street last week.

Police were called with reports of an assault shortly after 6.30pm last Monday (August 1), in which a man sustained a cut to his leg.

Several officers attended the scene along with paramedics, with locals reporting on social media that High Street was closed off for a time.

A 33 year-old man was arrested by officers while the victim was assessed by paramedics, before being released.

A statement from Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “Police were called to reports of an assault in Cinderford on Monday evening (1 August).

“The incident happened shortly after 6.30pm inside an address on High Street and involved people who are believed to be known to each other.

“A man was attacked resulting in a cut to his leg. He was assessed by paramedics before being released.

“Officers arrested a 33-year-old man from High Street on suspicion of wounding with intent and has been released on police bail.

“Patrols are taking place in the area by the Neighbourhood Policing Team to offer reassurance to the community.”
