DAVID Meek, 21, suffered liver damage, suspected internal bleeding and two broken ones in his back after plunging 30ft from a cliff while on holiday in Ibiza.

David, from Broadwell, was on holiday with friends. He was heading back to his hotel in the early hours of the morning when the cliff's edge gave way.

His friends, Kingsley Bower and Dean Tingle, got themselves down to the water's edge in complete darkness and Dean swam out towards David's shouts.

Dean held his head above the water while Kingsley started shouting for help.

David was taken to a private hospital and in intensive care for 24 hours.

His brother Zach, also part of the holiday group, said: "David is lucky to be alive because the tide waws in and the area was surrounded by shallow water.

"Had the tide been out he would have been killed by the impact with the rocks."
