Since late yesterday afternoon, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service has been assisting Severn Trent at Wyelands Water Works in Lower Lydbrook, where a valve fault in one of it's pumping installations has led to flooding of the premises and loss of power.
Work has continued through the night to keep flood water at a level at which engineers can affect a temporary repair and keep water flowing into nearby reservoirs.
This morning, about 40 firefighters are still in attendance with High Volume Pump (HVP) teams from across the region.
The station mainly supplies water to a holding reservoir at Micheldean which, via a network of smaller reservoirs, services approximately 20,000 homes.
With the efforts of crews and engineers overnight, levels have been increased to a point where there is no immediate threat to domestic supplies. Severn Trent continue to closely monitor this situation.
The B4234 will remain closed for the duration of the incident to ensure access for any vehicles required to assist with repairs.
