THINGS are looking good for Lydney Ladies (pictured), who started the season in tremendous style by winning the annual county tournament.

Drawn in a competitive group, they beat Stroud 3-1, Cheltenham 2-0 and Gloucester 4-0 with goals from Kate Adams, Lauren Thompson, Chloe James, Milly Chidley, Amy Biddle and Emma Biddle.

A 4-0 win over Cirencester followed, to put Lydney into the final against Cheltenham.

It was a tight game which ended 0-0, thanks to good defending by Lucy Aldridge, Emily Aldridge, Natalie Halford, Amy Morris and Karen Alexander in goal.

Lydney won the penalty shoot-out 4-2 with goals from Chloe James, Lauren Thomson, Kate Adams and captain Emma Biddle.

If the team continues to progress, promotion to Premier League One could be a real possibility this season.
