Cricklade Town 0
Lydney Town 1
LYDNEY Town remain unbeaten in the league following this superb away win at second-placed Cricklade Town.
With centre-forwards Matt Timmins and Niall Halford both injured, Lydney pushed Steve Jones into attack.
The versatile Jones, usually a centre-half, has been playing in goal in recent weeks.
Mike Reddan took over between the sticks.
Playing down the slope in the first-half, Lydney took the game to the home team and dominated from the start.
Adam Price's shot from a Ricky Elliott cross was blocked and cleared to safety.
Cricklade pressed early in the second-half but it wasn't long before Lydney were back on top.
Their winning goal came on 55 minutes.
Jon Kear won a free-kick and Ricky Elliott knocked a ball into the box which was only partially cleared.
Danny Clarke, waiting on the edge of the box, rifled a shot into the roof of the net.
Clarke's in-swinging corner 10 minutes later almost flew straight into the Cricklade goal. It beat the home keeper but was headed off the line by a defender.
Five minutes from time Adam Price found himself clean through, but he shot tamely into the keeper's arms.
Lydney were good value for this win with Reddan having very little to do.
The Severnsiders have now won six of their seven encounters with Cricklade.
This week Lydney entertain Malmesbury Victoria at The Recreation Ground.
Malmesbury were relegated from the Premier Division last year and are finding life in Division One just as difficult.
